AKS FIRST LADY VISITS DIVINE HOME, SENDS KIDS TO SCHOOL

The Wife of Akwa Ibom state Governor, Deaconess Martha Udom Emmanuel yesterday visited children of the Divine Home, Atan Offot where she donated educational materials such as books, text books, school bags, school boxes and toiletries to the children of the home under the project tagged: ‘Back to School’, which signifies the return of the children to their respective schools for the new academic session.

Speaking at the event, the wife of the Governor reassured the children of her commitment to their welfare saying they have a place in her heart.  She noted that, inasmuch as she had sent her biological children to school with everything they required, it was expedient that she replicates same gesture to them by providing their basic educational needs. She advised the children to study hard, be obedient to their teachers, elders and most importantly fear God.

Mrs. Emmanuel also urged the children not to indulge in behaviors that could hinder their success but rather concentrate on their studies so as to have a bright future, promising that every child that does well at the end of the term will be kindly rewarded.

She also appreciated the coordinator and staff of the home for their commitment and labour of love saying that their reward abounds.

In a goodwill message from the Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Women Affairs and social welfare, Dr. Glory Edet, she thanked the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for his support towards ensuring that every Akwa Ibom child lives a better life and specifically commended the Governor’s wife for being a mother to all Akwa Ibom children, praying that God will sustain them.

She however advised the children of the home to replicate same by being obedient to their coordinator, teachers and elders and as well pray for the success of the administration.

Speaking earlier, the coordinator of Divine Home, Mrs. Ime Ephraim Inyang appreciated the Governor’s wife for her benevolence and magnanimity towards the home. She applauded the efforts of the governor’s wife in turning the Home into a comfortable abode for the children within her three months in office, describing her as a mother with a heart of gold.

Mrs. Inyang also lauded the first lady’s love for the children which she pointed have culminated into better living conditions, quality of food and clothing. She however intimated the wife of the Governor on their needs such as a utility vehicle (bus), raising the height of the fence and the repairs of the road leading to the facility.

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of the educational materials by the governor’s wife to some children of the home. As part of the event, the wife of Governor, Mrs. Martha danced with the children to the admiration of all.

In attendance was the Wife of Secretary to State Government/ Solicitor General Ministry of Justice, Barr. Mrs. Gloria Umoren, others were House member representing Okobo State Constituency, Hon. Felicia Bassey, Barr. Comfort Etuk, LEWA members, wives of Local Government Transition Chairmen and various women groups.
